France Was An Important Part Of Genesis History

As we grieve for France, Genesis fans have taken the time to reflect how important France was to Genesis history. Batlaclan serves as an important part of the band's history. There is 34 minutes of footage dating back to 1973 that was recorded in Bataclan. When the terrorist struck Bataclan, Genesis fans hit social media and remembered the Bataclan concert documentary. There is not much live footage for early Genesis, so Bataclan served as one of the earliest documented concerts. Here is the footage and we will include a link for fans to always easily find.

Six Of The Best - 1982

Genesis fans were given a reunion back in 1982 that everyone wishes would reoccur today. Back on Mike Rutherford's birthday, the band reunited to help their fellow bandmate Peter Gabriel. Pete was facing economic disaster due to the commercial failure of a project he was involved in known as WOMAD.

The band rallied for one concert. Think about how much a Genesis reunion would be worth today. Back in 1982, one reunion paid off the creditors for WOMAD. That's right, one concert. There is no telling what a tour would have fetched the bandmates over the years, but it would surely have been very successful.

Sadly, the day only has limited audio recordings of the event. There was no video, as the band had insisted that the event not be recorded. With all of the nostalgia for a reunion, a video would have been hugely sought and revered by fans.

Another interesting piece of history is the collaboration allowed for solo work, new Genesis songs and older classics. Many today feel like the band would be unwilling to do such work. Yet in 1982, it was not a problem.

Here is an audio clip and it will be archived on the blog.

LOS ENDOS - Drum Duets

Los Endos has been played live over the years prompting drum duets throughout the Genesis set. Truly different each time, Los Endos allowed the band to be creative with each live performance. Phil experimented with Bill Bruford at first. Bruford brought his percussionist skills to the song. Very different at times than Chester's contributions. Chester Thompson joining the band expanded upon the drumming Bruford.  Phil and Chester expanded the intro with drum patterns that challenged each other. More like a duel at times showcasing their talents.
Mike, Tony, and Daryl also used Los Endos as platforms to expand their contributions to the song. (Subtle but there are differences) Here are 2 variations of Los Endos live for you to enjoy. This was the magic of Genesis. They would expand upon the older material to bring new life to the live performances. Always different. Very much Genesis each time they played the song.

BBC Nightride Series from 1970 added to the blog

This is probably the earliest live music outside of the Atomic Sun Music Festival. I am going to provide the links. The sessions are very crisp and clear.

Early sessions provide a unique aspect to understanding the history of Genesis. These sessions are pre-Phil Collins and Steve Hackett.

Anthony Philips provides such a strong musical contribution. To have these archives for Genesis fans is amazing!

Bootlegs are going to be added to the Blog

There are many Bootlegs that can be found on Youtube. I am going to listen and categorize them so that people can use our blog to have access to them in a manner that is user friendly. I will add them by city and tour date. Also, I will try to organize concerts by eras so that people can find them easily. Any suggestions let us know.

Genesis Live!

Most fans of Genesis have a special concert they remember. There live shows were epic. I was surprised how many concerts have been captured and saved. I will be collecting shows and cataloging them on this site for true Genesis fans.
